Career in hospitality

  • Career paths in the industry could include room’s management, food and beverage management, events and conference planning, sales and marketing, club management and guest services. Due to the nature of the industry, hospitality tourism employees may work more than 40 hours a week, weekends, nights and holidays in order to contain the industries’ extended hours of service.
  • Students in this career path may pursue entry level management courses in the hospitality industry. General Managers of resorts, clubs, restaurants and hotels coordinate to deliver excellent service and a memorable experience in their fields. Convention services managers coordinate conventions, meetings, and other special events in a hotel. Food and beverage managers coordinate the food services of hotels. Front office managers are responsible for reservations and training front desk staff on how to deal with the public. Executive housekeepers make sure that meeting rooms, guest rooms and public areas are maintained besides training and supervising housekeepers. Restaurant managers coordinate all phases of food service operation.
  • The service industry is one of the most flourishing industries in India today. Hospitality can be termed as the service given to people. The travel and tourism sectors, hotel industries etc are in constant need of the people. The Hospitality Sector mainly focuses on the services that are provided to the customers. These areas also provide extensive scope for self-employment. Thus, there is extensive range of diverse careers in the fully-fledged hospitality industry.
